Dundee web development, hand-coded.
Dundee web development from £2,500. We audit before quoting, then extend, replatform or rebuild your site, whichever of the three costs least over a year.
// Where projects start
Extend it, replatform it, or start again.
Development enquiries almost always start with a site that already exists. Someone built it three or five years ago, it has been added to since, and now it is slow, awkward to edit or missing something the business needs. The question worth answering is which of three routes costs least over the next year.
Extending is right when the foundations are sound and the gap is specific: a booking flow, a members area, a set of templates the old build never had. Replatforming is right when the content is worth keeping but the thing underneath it is the problem, which covers most Wix, Squarespace and heavy page builder sites. Starting again is right when the structure itself is wrong, because new code cannot fix an information architecture that was never planned.
We answer that question in writing before quoting, with a cost against each route. It is why some projects end up as a fortnight of performance and template work instead of a rebuild. Where a rebuild genuinely is the answer, our UK development service and our custom WordPress work cover the two shapes it usually takes.
// Dundee in numbers
Dundee, · as the data records it.
// What we deliver
The three routes in practice.
Extend what you have
New templates, a booking or enquiry flow, a members area, a performance and security pass on the existing build. We work inside your current codebase and leave a written note of everything we touched, so the next developer is not guessing.
02Replatform the content
Your words, images and earned rankings move onto a platform your team can live with, leaving the old builder and its licence behind. Every URL is mapped to its replacement before the switch, and we track Search Console daily through the first fortnight.
03Build from nothing
A blank repository, a structure planned around what the site has to earn, and templates written by hand. This is the route for launches, for a pivot into a new market, and for sites whose architecture was wrong from the first day.
// Selected work
Three projects,three different routes.
First Digital Media
A digital marketing agency with no analytics at all on its own website, and so no way to tell which pages were earning enquiries. The WordPress rebuild brought GA4 in with it, the team could finally see the answer, and conversions followed.
Quantatrace
Our clearest example of the third route. Patching the early site would have kept the flaw it was built on, so the whole thing started over from a blank repository once a workshop and a competitor review had settled how the product should be explained.
Math Tutor
A template-built tutoring site that loaded slowly on mobile and had no route from a first visit to an enrolment. The replacement is a fast WordPress build with programme-led navigation and a guided enquiry journey, shipped alongside on-page SEO.
// Why Delivix
Four habits that shape the build.
- We audit before we quote. The written comparison of extend, replatform and rebuild comes first, and it sometimes argues against the bigger job.
- Code is written to be read by someone else. Plain patterns, comments where they earn their place, and documentation that assumes we are not around.
- Speed gets a number at kickoff. We agree a page weight and a Core Web Vitals target in the scope, then test against them on a mid-range phone before launch.
- Migrations get the most planning time, because that is where traffic actually goes missing. The redirect map is written at the start of the project rather than the night before the switch.
// Where we work
Cities we build for from Glasgow.
// Working together
Eighty miles west, one senior pair.
You deal with two people here: Saad and Sheikh, working from 119 Whitefield Road in Glasgow, roughly eighty miles west, with no Dundee office and nobody between you and the code. Rebuild work travels well because everything that matters is written down somewhere shared, and because the replies come from whoever wrote the part you asked about.
Coming across is a decision about value rather than distance. A kickoff with several people who all need to hear the same scope is worth the drive. So is being present for a launch that carries orders or applications. For weekly reviews, a call with the actual site open on both screens beats two hours on the A90 every time.
After launch the relationship is yours to shape. Some clients take the keys, the documentation and the hosting account and run the site themselves from there. Others hand the upkeep back to us on a £99 a month care plan, or move on to search work once the build has settled. Ads, email and social alongside it are covered by digital marketing in Dundee. If you are weighing cities and options, web development in Aberdeen covers the same ground further north, and a short call is usually enough for us to tell you which of the three routes you are in.
Questions we always get.
The other questions are answered on the brief. Fill it in or book a call.
£2,500 is where custom builds begin, and one call is enough for us to put a number on yours. Three things drive it: whether the site sells anything, whether it holds an archive that keeps growing, and whether anyone has to log in. Rebuilds often land under a ground-up build, since the content and the structure already exist to work from.
Often it does not. Plenty of sites we look at need a performance pass, a security tidy and three new templates rather than a replacement. We audit first and say which of the three routes applies, with the year-one cost of each written down. If extending what you have is the cheaper answer, that is the answer you get, even though it is the smaller invoice.
Yes, and the migration is the careful part rather than the build. We inventory every existing URL, map each one to its replacement, keep the page titles and content that are already earning traffic, then watch Search Console daily for the first fortnight. Rankings usually hold or recover within weeks, though no developer can promise a search engine's behaviour, so we monitor instead of guessing.
Both, within reason. Booking flows, member areas, quote calculators, dashboards and portals are all normal work for us. What we turn down is anything that really needs a full product team and a roadmap, because two developers cannot staff that honestly. If your brief is closer to a product than a website, we will tell you at the first call rather than the third invoice.
No. Room 11, 119 Whitefield Road, Glasgow G51 2SD is the whole company, roughly eighty miles west of you. For a rebuild that matters less than it sounds, because the artefact you review each week is the site itself on a preview link. We drive across for a kickoff with several stakeholders, or for a switchover day on a site that takes bookings.
Which route you are on decides it, more than how big the site is. Extending an existing build is the quickest of the three, since the foundations and the content are already sitting there. Replatforming and starting again both fall in the 4 to 8 week band, though a replatform spends days on the redirect map and the content audit that a fresh build never spends. Every milestone carries a date from kickoff.
Then you take everything and go. The repository, the hosting account, the analytics and the handover documentation are yours from launch day, and the code is written so another developer can read it without a phone call to us. There is no proprietary builder in the stack and no licence that stops working when you stop paying us.
Often, and it is a common Dundee brief. Where the look still holds up and the trouble sits underneath, we keep the design and replace what is failing: the templates, the hosting, the CMS, whichever parts break. You get the engineering benefit without paying for a visual overhaul nobody asked for. Where the design is itself the problem, web design in Dundee is the page for that.
