What an AI
receptionist is.

An AI receptionist is a computer program that answers phone calls for your business. It listens to the caller and talks back in a natural voice. You tell it about your business: what you do, your prices, the areas you cover and your opening hours. It uses that information to answer callers.

You keep your phone number. When you can't answer, or when you are closed, your phone passes the call to the AI receptionist. It picks up, deals with the caller and sends you a text or email with what they wanted.

An example

Say you run a plumbing business. It is 10am and you are under a sink when your phone rings. Today that call goes to voicemail, and the caller may ring another plumber instead.

With an AI receptionist, the call is answered straight away. The caller says their boiler has stopped working. The receptionist asks for their name, address, phone number and when they are free, and tells them you will ring back soon. A minute later you get a text: "Boiler not working. Jane Smith, Shawlands, 07700 900123, free after 2pm today."

You finish the job, read the text and ring Jane back.

// What we deliver

What it does
on each call.

01

Answers straight away

It answers every call you send to it, at any hour, including weekends and while you are on another call.

02

Answers common questions

It answers the questions you hear every day, such as your opening hours, prices, the areas you cover and how to book. It only uses the answers you give us.

03

Takes the caller's details

It asks for the caller's name, phone number, address and the reason for the call, then reads the details back to check them.

04

Sends you a summary

After each call you get a text or email with the caller's details and what they need, so you can ring them back.

05

Books appointments

If you use an online calendar, such as Google Calendar or Outlook, it can book the caller into one of your free slots.

06

Puts urgent calls through

You choose what counts as urgent, such as a burst pipe. For those calls it can put the caller straight through to your mobile.

// Our process

How we set it
up for you.

01

We learn your business

We have a call with you about the calls you get. We write down your services, prices, areas, opening hours and the questions callers ask most often.

02

We build and test it

We set up the receptionist with your information. You ring it yourself, ask it your hardest questions and tell us what to change. It goes live when you are happy with it.

03

We switch it on

We show you how to send unanswered calls from your phone to the receptionist. This is a setting on your phone, and you can turn it on and off yourself.

04

We check it every month

We read the call summaries, correct any wrong answers and add new questions as they come up. If your prices or opening hours change, tell us and we update it.

// Before you buy

What it cannot do

An AI receptionist handles routine calls well. Calls that need judgement still need you. Here is what to expect.

  • It can mishear. Names, street names and strong accents on a bad line can trip it up. It reads details back to the caller, and every summary includes the caller's number, so you can ring back to check.
  • It only knows what you tell it. If a caller asks something we have not given it an answer for, it takes a message for you.
  • It cannot price a complicated job. It can quote the prices you set, such as a call-out fee. For work that needs a visit or a survey, it books the visit or takes a message.
  • Some callers want a person. When a caller asks for a person, it takes a message or puts them through to you, whichever you choose.

// Price

What it costs

Every business gets a different number of calls, so we quote a monthly price after a short call. Setup is included and the minimum term is 6 months.

If you would like to start smaller, a chatbot on your website costs £200 a month. It answers customers who type rather than phone, and you can read how it works on our AI customer service page. Our AI automation page covers the other jobs we can take off your hands, and our pricing page lists every plan.

More calls usually start with Google. If you want your phone to ring more often, read about our local SEO service, which helps your business show up on Google Maps. When you are ready to talk, contact us.

// FAQ

Questions
we always get.

The other questions are answered on the brief. Fill it in or book a call.

An AI receptionist is a computer program that answers your business phone. It talks to callers, answers common questions, takes their details and sends them to you by text or email. Small businesses use one so that calls still get answered when they are busy, on another call or closed.

Yes. We set it to tell callers at the start that they are speaking to an AI assistant for your business. Callers who would rather speak to a person can leave a message, or it can put them through to you.

Yes. Your number stays the same. You change a setting on your phone so that calls you do not answer go to the receptionist. You can also send every call to it while you are closed.

Every call ends with a text or email to you that includes the caller's phone number. If a detail looks wrong, you call them back to check. Each month we read the call summaries and correct any answer it got wrong.

We quote a monthly price after a short call, because it depends on how many calls you get and what you want the receptionist to do. Setup is included and the minimum term is 6 months. If you would like to start with a chatbot on your website instead, that costs £200 a month.

Businesses that miss calls because the owner or team is busy with customers: trades such as plumbers and electricians, salons, clinics, letting agents and solicitors. It helps most when the bulk of your calls are routine questions or booking requests.

Yes. It answers at any time, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You decide what it tells callers when you are closed, for example that you will ring them back the next morning.
